Found this place via ig and boy oh boy ain't a sweet find! The food came with large portions and we were full by the time we finished our main dishes. The ambiance is super nice indoors and felt very spacious, not even a bit cramped. They also open normal hours on July 4th. The only complaint I have was there wasn't enough flavor in the cheese corn and the California rolls, both need more mayo or something ... other than that, we were very satisfied with the food, especially the price. Will come again if in the area !

This place is so cute! Very hole-in-the-wall vibes. Nestled in a small Santa Teresa plaza, it serves up a delicious variety of Asian foods that my friend and I both loved. We came on a Wednesday night and ordered takoyaki (6 pieces), sizzling beef pepper rice, sake sashimi (3 pieces), and a spicy tuna handroll. I really liked the sizzling beef pepper rice, it rivals larger chains while being from a mom-and-pop business! The takoyaki was steaming hot and yummy, and the sake sashimi was fresh and presented so prettily. The servers were sweet and checked up on us to fill our waters periodically. Would definitely come here again to try more items on their menu, I'm officially a fan.

I work in South San Jose where it is flooded with American chain restaurants. So finding this legit Asian establishment is a gem. I was excited to lunch by myself here. Ordered the Sizzling Pork Belly Pepper Rice; let the rice sit undisturbed on the hot pot for a bit to charr up. I used to be squeamish about eating pork fat but nowadays, I savor the tender fat. Portions are large, I eat half and take home the other half. Next time I will order their Pork Belly Ramen Soup.

Came here to eat with my girlfriend and saw the variety of Asian fusion foods that they have here. Walking in we were immediately greeted by the workers and were sat right away. What we ordered: Orange blossom (5/5): this came with salmon on the outside and spicy tuna and cucumbers on the inside. Salmon was fresh and delicious, no complaints on this roll. Seared Tuna (5/5): rich in flavor and has a kick to it when we both love. This was such a unique dish you can't get anywhere else and we really enjoyed this a lot. Takoyaki (4/5): very crispy and moist in the inside, I was very pleased with the extra octopus they added inside. Usually places don't ever do this and they only have one piece only. The only feedback I have is that we didn't feel like there was enough sauce in our takoyaki so it was a bit plain in our opinion. Overall a solid place to come for some Asian fusion, will definitely be back to try other food items that they have!

Another Hidden Gem Alert! Mimi's Kitchen is tucked away in a strip mall in South San Jose and waiting to be discovered. Parking is plentiful and you won't regret making the adventure out to Mimi's Kitchen for a meal. We went on a Saturday and were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and seated. The restaurant is very cutely decorated and you'll feel instantly at home once you walk through the doors. This is a great place for a date night or a group gathering with friends. The menu consists of a big variety of asian dishes that include sizzling plates, udon, ramen, donburi, and, recently, they added a ton of sushi options to their menu. We appreciated the variety to choose from and knew we absolutely had to try to sushi along with all the other options. Each dish looked delicious and the sushi was immaculately plated. The quality and taste of the food was incredible, and the modest price for each dish was truly the icing on the cake to combine quality and value. We loved the appetizers and the main entree we got in addition to the sushi. Every dish was literally delicious and we can't wait to go back and try all the things we didn't have a chance to try. As we began to eat, the restaurant began filling up so make your way to Mimi's Kitchen before the hidden gem isn't so hidden anymore!

Mimi's is a quiet little hole in the wall with quite the bang for your buck in the form of homey Japanese-esque meals. Especially these days with inflation it's even harder to beat the price point they're operating at without sacrificing too much on quality. I'd place them at a 4.5, but it's a very nice locally owned joint and a lot of heart in its space/operation so I handily round up. Efficient experience with QR code ordering system, but frequently checked in on by polite staff. Food came out pretty fast too (within 10min). Also cute little mint for finishing the meal! Menu spans a host of Japanese items like takoyaki, teppayaki/sizzling rice, udon/ramen. A few could be argued to be Asian fusion (poke, Korean style stuff), but they're not the majority by any means. Cheese corn - 4/5 Tastes more like a baked corn with cheese on top than cheesy corn, but I'm a fan of both so I have no hard complaints. The distinction being that that corn underneath, while being perfectly cooked and fine tasting didn't really mesh with the cheese at all...so a bit more mixing of the cheese+corn would help on that front. Some light seasonings would help accentuate the corn better, though they do have plenty of table-available condiments. Takoyaki - 4.5/5 Flavor is on point with a lightly crispy exterior and a nice fluffy interior. It's not quite on the liquidy soft style I'm more fond of, but it's a pretty good iteration. Stir fried beef udon - 4/5 Perfect on the seasoning front and has a pretty good balance of veggies, meat, and noodles. Udon noodles are on the soft side for a stir fry and not much in the way of wokhei, so there's certainly room for improvement, but it's more than sufficiently serviceable for $13. Sizzling rice pork belly - 4.5/5 They do wonderfully on the flavor front and everything is pretty solid as far as the sizzling rice dish goes (from the copious amounts of butter and garlic to the soy seasoning in the rice and buttery pork belly). Temperature control could be better though, since although it comes out with a sizzle (and is relatively still pretty hot), it's not hot enough for any of the food on the skillet to really cook through with a crisp that's characteristic for teppanyaki. Still, flavor here is better than some places have even with a crisp so it's a tossup.

If you love Asian food, you'll love MiMi's Kitchen. MiMi's is a ways away from me, but I'd make the trip and visit when I'm in the area. The restaurant has a lot of options, mostly of ramen, udon, sushi, sizzling plates, and even hot pot! My party and I were impressed with the selection and generous portions. The food itself was also tasty. **Hawaiian Poke Donburi Thick cubes of tuna on rice and veggies. This was really good if you like sweet and spicy. The sauce reminds me of the sauce packets included in Korean sushi bowls. Great dish to have when it's hot outside! **Sizzling Eel Rice Decent crisp on the rice. Very tasty! I love the buttery taste and tenderness of the eel. Each table has a bottle of teriyaki sauce and other condiments for additional seasoning. The service was kind and attentive even when the place was busy. You order via QR code and have the option to add more items while the first batch are being prepared. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Overall, my favorite things about MiMi's are the value, variety, and warm atmosphere. Definitely will revisit.

Stopped by for a weekday dinner with my husband. There were many people already there. We tried the sizzling beef udon- it was very flavorful, more on the sweeter side. The seafood hotpot was also pretty tasty- packed with a lot vegetables and some tofu, mushrooms, shrimp and clams. There is noodle in the soup and you also get a bowl of rice on the side. Our server was friendly, but she was pretty busy. The restaurant is cute inside.
